Looking for a place to live can be difficult even in the best situations.  Let the friendly staff at Fowler & Fowler, REALTORS ease the transition for you.  The following tips will help you in your application process.

1 – Bring your paperwork

It will speed up the process if you bring in your most recent check stubs, any paperwork regarding DSS or Social Security payments, or any Housing Authority information we may need.  Please have a photo ID and social security card available for everyone above the age of 18 that will live in the house you are applying for.

2 – If you need to put in a notice to vacate – go ahead and do it.

If your current landlord requires a notice to vacate, go ahead and fulfill that requirement.  Rent typically starts the day your application is approved.  We may not be able to “hold” a property for 30 days – and you don’t want to have to pay rent at two locations!

3 – Signing a lease

Once your application is approved, you will need an appointment to sign a lease.  At your appointment, please have your utilities scheduled to be turned on, and bring in separate money orders for the security deposit and the first month’s rent.

It usually takes 24-48 hours to process an application, but if all of your paperwork is in order this can cut down on that time tremendously!
